Our family was searching for a mathematics related enrichment class for our children ages 5 and 7. Mental arithmetic is not an area of focus at school and after talking to other parents we discovered that learning the abacus is one way of strengthening a child’s mind math skills. We looked for in-person classes but wasn’t sure if once a week would really have the impact we were looking for. Also it would be difficult for us to help reinforce the concepts at home. The Learn Abacus at Home website came up in a Google search. We signed up for a no risk trial where we were able to try the lessons out with our child. It was after our call with Raj that we were really sold on the curriculum as we could tell he was very methodical and has a wealth of experience to know what works.

We just finished 10 weeks of the course and completed the Unit 1 assessment. I definitely see progress in my child’s abacus skills but also in his listening and mind math skills. We have gotten into a good schedule. It’s not something we do every day. I present new material on Wednesday, after watching the 5-10 minute video the night before. My child does the worksheets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There is very little preparation work on my part. The videos are clear and even anticipates problems you might have along with helpful tips. Each week’s videos build upon your skills in a logical and manageable way with plenty of review to reinforce concepts. It’s just the right amount of work for the child.

More importantly my child really enjoys this and he has learned another way to approach problems in math. This was the perfect age to start as their mind is more adapt to learning new skills. I’ve learned how to use the abacus as well but my child is much faster and grasps the concepts more easily. I’m blown away at how he is able to visualize the abacus and do the problems in his mind. What is the difference between a One Payment Plan and 12 Payment Plan?

Every membership comes with lifetime access to the course (for the life of the course), once all the payments have been completed. There are 66 lessons included in the curriculum and we recommend you teach one lesson per week. The Onetime plan is the most cost effective plan where member pay for the membership with one payment. However, we realize that sometimes members want some flexibility to pay over time. The 12 payment plan allows members to pay over 12 months. Content in each plan is released to the members as specified in the membership options page.

Is there a FREE Trial for the Membership?

Upon signing up for a membership, members have 7-day FREE trial during which they can access the first 4 weeks of lessons. Your payment method is not charged during the 7 day free trial period and you can cancel anytime during the trial period to avoid your payment method from being charged.

Once the trial period expires, your payment method is charged automatically. Should you choose to cancel the membership after the 7 day free trial, any amount charged is non-refundable. However, if any future payments were due as per your selected payment plan, they will not be charged, and your membership is cancelled right away.

Can I start with a 12 Payment Plan and then upgrade to another Plan?

Yes, you can start with the monthly plan and choose to upgrade by paying the balance in one payment in the future. However, before doing so, please contact us and depending on how long you’ve been a monthly member, we can provide you the balance due in order to upgrade which may work in your favor.

How often do I have live sessions with a Teacher?

Please understand that the membership includes all the step by step video lessons and tutorials along with related worksheets and support material. Parents can use our membership to help their children develop Mental Math Fluency at home themselves. But sometimes parents prefer that our certified teachers teach their child directly, or have our teachers teach their child initially for just a few classes to get things started. That's available as well. Simply sign-up for a "class bundle" and let's get started.

However, when teaching your child at home yourself, you will have plenty of support. If you have questions or need assistance, you can post them in the forums and one of our teachers (or another parent ahead of you) will get back to you asap. You can also email info@learnabacusathome.com with your questions and we will try to get you a timely response.

Upon signing-up for the membership, you also get a complementary one-on-one 30 minute Orientation call to help you get started. During that call, we answer any questions you may have and make recommendations on how to best work with your child based on their age and anything else you would like to discuss.

Outside of that, you can also join our live monthly member calls where one of our teacher answers your questions live. Again, please understand that these calls are not designed to be instructional calls, but really to help answer any specific questions you may have. Since we have members all over the world, these calls are not held at one specific time and the time of the call changes each month so everyone has an opportunity to join in person. However, if you receive a notification about an upcoming call but are unable to join in person, just submit your question via email and we will do our best to answer it during the live call. A recording of the live call will be made available so you can get your answer, and also listen in on what other members may have asked.

Does Learn Abacus At Home Offer a Money Back Guarantee?

Every new member, on any plan, gets a 7-day free trial. You pay nothing when you sign up and you get to enjoy Learn Abacus At Home for 7 days during that time. We strongly recommend that you schedule a one-on-one orientation session with one of our teachers during the trial period by emailing info@learnabacusathome.com. This will allow us to walk you through the course as well as understand your specific situation in order to offer our recommendations for best results. If you cancel during the 7-day trial period, your payment method is not charged, your membership is cancelled, and we part as friends. If you love what what we have to offer during the free trial, just stick around, you’ll only be charged for your chosen plan after your trial period is up. Should you cancel after your payment method has been charged following the free trial, there are no refunds for amount already paid.
