Hi Sara, my daughter is familiar with the 5 and 10 rules and can apply them in addition and subtraction successively but not yet simultaneously. So she can do 8+9-3, but not 7+7. She can do 12+4, but not 12+12 yet (we haven’t tried). Not sure whether I was able to pick relevant examples.
